Lip filler adds shape, definition and soft volume while keeping your lips looking like yours. At Avinity Health, every treatment starts with your facial proportions, uses Juvéderm Volbella XC, and is placed in stages so results build gradually and stay natural. Each visit adds only what your face calls for.

Lip filler, also called lip augmentation, is an injectable hyaluronic acid gel placed in and around the mouth to add volume, define the border and smooth fine lines. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your body already makes, so it integrates softly and moves naturally when you talk, smile and eat.
Results are visible right away, settle over one to two weeks and typically last 6 to 12 months. Treatment is also reversible: if you ever want it gone, an enzyme called hyaluronidase can dissolve hyaluronic acid filler, an added margin of safety that permanent options do not offer.
Lips look overdone when too much filler goes in at once, with no plan for how they relate to the rest of the face. Emily studies your lip shape, the balance between your upper and lower lip, and your profile before deciding where filler goes and how much, then treats in stages.
Filler placed along the border sharpens the outline and defines the cupid's bow, giving a crisper shape without adding much size. It is often the best first step when the edges have flattened or softened over time, and it pairs naturally with a little added volume later.
For thin lips, or ones that have lost fullness with age, a small amount of filler adds body to the top, the bottom or both. Most lips are slightly uneven, so placement also softens small differences between the two sides, keeping your smile balanced from every angle, including in profile.
Vertical lines above the upper lip, often called lipstick lines, can be softened with very small amounts of a light filler. The area looks smoother at rest, and lipstick is less likely to bleed into the creases. Most people notice it only as looking more rested.

Avinity uses Volbella XC, a smooth, lightweight hyaluronic acid filler designed for subtle lip enhancement and the fine lines around the mouth. It contains lidocaine to keep treatment comfortable, and its soft texture keeps results flexible, so they move with your expressions instead of looking firm.
Other fillers, such as Restylane Kysse, are well established, but we chose one system and know it deeply. Working with a single product lets Emily predict how you will respond and build on the same record every visit. For cheeks, jawline and chin, see our dermal fillers in Scottsdale.

Every lip filler treatment at Avinity is performed by Emily Dawson, DHA, MBA, MSN, RN, our co-founder and Clinical Director. Emily has more than 15 years of experience as a registered nurse and is the only injector at the clinic, so the person who plans your treatment is the person who performs it.
That continuity matters most with lips, where small amounts make a visible difference. Each visit builds on a record of how you responded before, and all aesthetic care at Avinity is delivered under the medical direction of Dr. Arun Lakshmipathy, our Medical Director, so every plan has physician oversight behind it.
Meet the Avinity teamAvinity Health was incredible. Emily was so knowledgeable and relatable. Her technique is systematic and thorough.
The results look extremely natural. A few people have told me I look more rested or refreshed, but nobody has been able to tell I had Botox, which is honestly exactly what I wanted.
They didn't promise some dramatic overnight result, which honestly made me trust them more.
Your appointment takes 30 to 60 minutes. Emily looks at your shape, proportions and symmetry and asks what you want to change, and you agree on the plan, including what not to do, before anything begins. Most patients return to normal activity the same day.
Topical numbing can be applied first, and the lidocaine in the filler means most patients feel pressure and brief pinches rather than pain. Placement is precise and measured, using only the filler the first stage of your plan calls for, so results blend with your features.
Your lips will look fuller right away and may look larger than the final result for the first few days. Final results show once everything settles over one to two weeks, and your follow-up visit shapes the next stage if you want one.
Swelling is normal after lip filler and is usually most noticeable for the first 24 to 48 hours, then fades over the following days. Bruising can also occur and is more common on the lips than in other areas. Both are temporary and usually mild.
For the first 24 hours, avoid rubbing or pressing on your lips, strenuous exercise and excessive heat such as saunas or hot yoga. If you have a wedding, photos or another important event, book at least two weeks ahead so your results have fully settled.
Results typically last 6 to 12 months. Lips move constantly, so hyaluronic acid breaks down faster there than in the cheeks or chin. How long results hold depends on your metabolism, the amount placed and how often you are treated, and maintenance visits keep results consistent.
The total depends on how much filler your plan calls for, and your free consultation gives you a clear number before anything begins. Members of our Botox & Aesthetic Membership save 15% on aesthetic treatments, including lip filler, and membership credit does not expire.
Most patients find treatment very tolerable. Topical numbing and the built-in lidocaine keep discomfort low, and you may feel pressure or a brief pinch. Any tenderness usually fades within a day or two, and most people return to work the same day.
We never quote a syringe count before seeing your lips. Many patients start with a small amount and build gradually, because lips change noticeably with very little product, and staged treatment is what keeps results natural rather than overdone. Emily will tell you what your lips need, and what they don't.
A lip flip uses a small amount of Botox to relax the muscle above the mouth so the upper lip rolls slightly outward and shows more. It adds no volume. Filler adds actual shape and volume with hyaluronic acid, and some patients combine the two.
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, which breaks the gel down within a day or two. That reversibility is one reason we use only hyaluronic acid fillers in the lips, where small changes are easy to see and should always be reversible.
